Land of Copper: Ivanhoe Electric’s $120 Million Bet on Santa Cruz Project in Casa Grande

A company that explores mines wants to start a new underground site in Casa Grande.

They plan to call it the Santa Cruz Copper Project and it would cover 6,000 acres of land.

Records from Pinal County say Ivanhoe Electric bought the land about a year ago for almost $120 million.

The planning commission of Casa Grande might decide on whether to allow the project next month.

Arizona already produces the most copper in the US.
